Clicking on a site allows you to select it. By selecting a site, you can zoom in on it and display basic information about it.Detailed information : click on the "Site Fact Sheet" button. This will open a new tab containing the perimeter of the selected site only, as well as all the attribute data concerning it. The "print" button allows you to print or export the form as a PDF file in portrait or landscape format.Zoom : the "+" and "-" buttons allow you to zoom in or out on the map. To perform the same actions with the mouse wheel, press the "Ctrl" key when using the wheel. A double click of the mouse allows you to zoom in. It is also possible using the "Shift" key while drawing a box with the mouse. The search must be done in Latin characters. Autocompletion allows you to use only part of the name to find it. Once the site you are looking for has been selected from the list, click on the "Search" button to select the site on the map. Click on the "Clear" button to perform a new search.
×MAPAMED (MArine Protected Areas in the MEDiterranean) is a cartographic database of key information on Mediterranean Marine Protected Areas (MPAs), potential Other Effective area-based Conservation Measure (OECMs), and more broadly on sites of interest for marine conservation.
It is developed and administered jointly by UNEP/MAP-SPA/RAC and the MedPAN Association. For detailed information, please consult the MAPAMED user manual (April 2021 version).
MAPAMED data is validated by all the Focal Points for Specially Protected Areas and Biological Diversity (SPA/BD) of the SPA/RAC, the centre that supports the Contracting Parties to the Barcelona Convention in the implementation of the SPA/BD Protocol.

The database was updated in 2020 and published as the "MAPAMED 2019 edition." This edition takes into account all sites officially designated by December 31, 2019. This represents 1,320 sites in total, of which 1,126 are Marine Protected Areas. Among these MPAs, 257 have national designation status.
